What is SEO?
SEO stands for ‘Search Engine Optimisation’.
SEO is aimed at achieving the highest position possible in the ‘organic’ listings on the search engine results pages, not in the ‘paid’ listings.
There is no charge for organic listings to be displayed, nor when a link to your site is clicked on (unlike pay-per-click ads).
Since SEO is rarely the fastest way to the top of the search engines, you need to be prepared to be patient. It isn’t particularly easy either, which is why many businesses outsource their SEO requirements to an expert consultant or agency.
However, from a cost perspective SEO offers more traffic potential than PPC traffic so if you can manage to rank your web site for the keywords you want, you will get much more traffic than paying for those keywords.
Organic traffic is continuous as long as you are ranking in one of the top positions and have an ongoing strategy and plan for your website. PPC ads can get more clicks but this means that you pay more. Once it is switched off, you no longer appear in ad results.
